            Please read the information contained in these pages carefully and apply for the appropriate scholarship(s). This information is to be read in addition to the regular Admissions Handbook for APU Graduate Schools.

List of Scholarships and Qualifying Academic Programs at APU

MEXT PGP = MEXT International Priority Graduate Placement Programs

- Dual Master’s Degree Program in International Material Flow Management (IMAT)

- Innovation and Technology Management (ITM)

- Comparative Institution Design for Transition Economy and Business Management (CID)

Purpose

        In 2007, the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) selected two of APU’s graduate programs (IMAT and Comparative Institution Design for Transition Economy and Business Management (CID)) for their International Priority Graduate Placement Programs. The Innovation and Technology Management (ITM) Program was also selected in the following year. Due to these programs’ special status with MEXT, APU can recommend a certain number of applicants to these programs for full scholarships from MEXT every year.

Eligibility

(1) Major Field of Study: The applicant must apply for one of APU’s Priority Graduate Placement (PGP) Programs (IMAT, ITM, or CID)

(2) Nationality and Residence: Anyone who does not hold Japanese nationality and is not residing in Japan at the time of application. Citizens of countries which do not have diplomatic relations with Japan are ineligible.

(3) Age: Applicants must be under 35 years of age as of the 1st of April 2011.

(4) Professional Experience: MBA (ITM & CID) applicants must have solid full time work experience of at least two years, preferably related to their desired major or an exemplary GMAT score.

A monthly subsistence allowance of 154,000 yen

(*amount subject to change for 2011) to cover living expenses, including housing and books

(*see (2) in “Notes”) Economy class air travel between the home country and the host university at the start of the study program and one return journey following the end of the overall scholarship period.

(IMAT students will receive only air travel between their home country and Japan and Japan and Germany after the first year of the program. Air travel back to the IMAT student’s home country at the end of the program must be paid for by the student, but can be funded by saving some of the monthly subsistence allowance during the program.)

Additional Required Documents

(1) One of your letters of recommendation must be written and signed by the President of the last university attended, the Dean of a college, or by another high-ranking university official.

(2) Abstracts of previous theses or example of previous written work and/or list of research achievements to date

: 1 November 2010 for Overseas Application

:  30 November 2010 for Domestic Application
