Eligibility: -Applicants must have a Norwegian doctorate or equivalent education from abroad (PhD). •An academic background in late antique/early medieval European history, art history or archaeology.
-Candidates working on non-figural graphic signs and visual communication of authority in the late antique and early medieval Mediterranean are especially encouraged to apply.

Scholarship Description: A researcher position (post code 1109) in medieval history is available at the University of Oslo’s Department of Archaeology, Conservation and History. The position will be part of the research project “Graphicacy and Authority in Early Europe: Graphic Signs of Power and Faith in the Early Middle Ages (c. 300-c.1000)”. The project aims to contribute towards a better understanding of non-figural graphic representational signs developing in early medieval Europe by placing them in the contexts of related written discourse, concurrent political culture, and wider socio-cultural milieu.

Value: Salary level 57-65 (468 400-542 900 NOK per year, depending on level of expertise).
