University of Exeter, Business School announces PhD studentships. The studentships are open for the home/EU and international candidates. The studentship is offered in the field of finance. Applicants applying for the studentship should have an appropriate first degree of class 2:1 or above. Candidate should also have a good master’s degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related discipline, at merit level (60%) or higher.

Eligibility:
Applications are welcome from Home/EU and international candidates. Applicants should have an appropriate first degree of class 2:1 or above. They should also have a good Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline, at Merit level (60%) or higher. Preference will be given to applicants who have received ESRC accredited training at Master’s level. If English is not their first language, a language test certificate is required with the following minimum requirements for this studentship: IELTS 7.0. Personal qualities should also include the ability to work independently and high degree of motivation necessary to complete a PhD in three years.

Scholarship Description: The Business School hosts a large and diverse postgraduate research community with currently over 155 students enrolled on its Doctoral programmes. It has excellent research ratings with 94 per cent of its research classified as being of international quality (RAE 2008). As part of its ongoing development of postgraduate research, the Business School is offering a number of fully-funded studentships for September 2013 start. They are keen to attract students with strong experience of independent research and knowledge of research methods, techniques and approaches at Master’s level. As with all Doctoral students in the Business School, further training opportunities are available based on training needs assessment at the start of their studies?
Duration of awards: All fees paid for three years plus an annual Research Council-equivalent maintenance grant for three years
What does it cover? In 2012/13 this was £13,590 per year; the 2013/14 grant will be announced later in the year.
