The Institute for Transport Studies at University of Leeds for September 2013 intake is offering four fees scholarships for Masters study. Applications are invited from international, African and EU candidates. ITS is awarding one fee £7500 Transport the World – Masters Scholarship for International Students,  one £7500 Transport Africa – Masters Scholarship for African Students and two £2550  Transport Europe – Masters Scholarships for European Students. Each program has separate application form for applying. The applicants for Transport Africa – Masters Scholarship will automatically also be considered for the ‘Transport the World’ scholarship. The scholarships are a 50% fees waiver for the 2013-14 academic year.

Study Subject(s): The Institute offers a choice of five Masters degrees: MA Transport Economics, MSc Sustainability (Transport),  MSc Transport Planning, MSc Transport Planning and the Environment and MSc (Eng) Transport Planning and Engineering

Eligibility: a) For Transport the World – Masters Scholarship : -Applicants must hold, or expect to obtain, a bachelors degree equivalent to a UK first class or upper second class honours.
- Applicants must hold an offer (conditional or unconditional) of an academic place for an ITS Masters degree for the academic year commencing September 2013.
- Applicants must be designated as ‘international fee status’ by the University of Leeds, and not be domiciled in a European Union member country. Transport the World pdf.
b) For Transport Africa – Masters Scholarship: -Applicants must hold, or expect to obtain, a bachelors degree equivalent to a UK first class or upper second class honours.

c) For Transport Europe – Masters Scholarships : -Applicants must hold, or expect to obtain, a bachelors degree equivalent to a UK first class or upper second class honours.
- Applicants must hold an offer (conditional or unconditional) of an academic place for an ITS Masters degree for the academic year commencing September 2013.
- Applicants must be designated as ‘home fee status’ by the University of Leeds, and be domiciled in a European Union member country. Transport Europe pdf.

Scholarship Open for Students of Following Countries: International students can apply for Transport the World – Masters Scholarship, African students can apply for Transport Africa – Masters Scholarship and European students can apply for Transport Europe – Masters Scholarships.

Scholarship Description: For the September 2013 intake, ITS is offering four fees scholarships for Masters study. These scholarships are designed to provide exceptional opportunities to students of outstanding ability, achievement and potential.  Applications are invited from international, African and EU candidatesApplicants should submit the ITS scholarship form and include a statement of 500 words on how a Masters degree from ITS would enable them to make a difference to transportation in their country or region, and specifically to tackle a significant problem or issue. The Institute for Transport Studies (ITS), University of Leeds, is offering fees scholarships to provide a unique opportunity to a student of outstanding ability, achievement and potential. The scholarship forms part of the ITS mission to advance the understanding of global transport, via the development of skills and best practice.  It is envisaged that the scholarship recipient will take up employment in the transport sector in their home country after the Masters programme, to apply their new skills in an area of identified need. Preference will be given to applicants who would otherwise be precluded from undertaking a Masters programme. ITS reserves the right not to make a scholarship award or to offer a fee waiver at a lower amount.

Terms and conditions : Preference will be given to applicants who would otherwise be precluded from undertaking a Masters programme; ITS reserves the right not to make a scholarship award or to offer a fee waiver at a lower amount;  the scholarship recipient will be expected support the future development and promotion of the scholarship and ITS, by participating in ITS marketing activities; the academic progress of scholarship recipient will be subject to on-going review – ITS reserves the right to withdraw funding at the end of either semester should academic performance be unsatisfactory; the scholarship cannot be deferred and will lapse if not taken up in September 2013.

Note: The applicants for Transport Africa – Masters Scholarship will automatically also be considered for the ‘Transport the World’ scholarship.

Number of awards offered: The Institute for Transport Studies is offering total four scholarships. 1 Transport the World – Masters Scholarship, 1 Transport Africa – Masters and 2 Transport Europe – Masters Scholarships.

Duration of award(s): Scholarships are offered for one year.
