Thankfully we are nearly through the worst of winter and spring is just around the corner.  We have had some lovely days, so those heaters can be used less.    You may need to speak to students about that as they get too used to having the heaters and now think they can’t do without them.

The new students that have come in this term, seem well settled – although you may need to go through things, homestay rules, letting you know when they’re coming home etc details again as it can be confusing at first.Thankyou to those homestays who came to our Pot Luck Dinner, was a great night.  Thankyou Mika and Hiro Yahata for the lunch box samples and good ideas for lunches. Thanks Tonya for the games!

Ski Trip

Most of our International students went to this at the Mt Hutt Ski Field.  Some of our students had never seen snow before, and they were so excited to be going.  They all had a go at either ski-ing or snow boarding.  Many fun stories, laughter and the weather was perfect.

Hospitality Challenge

Secondary Schools Culinary Challenge – we were pleased to hear that Hyunbe (CK) Jung gained a bronze award for her salmon dish, congratulations CK! It looks delicious.  Aranui High School also won best Christchurch School in the competition.

Exams

The students should be into study at home.  They have NCEA assessments week on 10 – 14 Sept, please encourage them with their study. The students that aren’t sitting any exams we will have a timetable for them, which they will soon receive, but they may have some of the time off.  Please make sure you see these timetables.

Holidays – 21 Sept – 8 Oct

These seem to of come around quickly. If your student is traveling in the holidays they need to do the official holiday permission slip from me, and have permission from homestay, parents and agent.

Those staying in Christchurch maybe you can share day trips around or make suggestions for your student to do with the other students.

Photos from the term

Lastly thank you for the support and care you give our students.  We really do appreciate the positive family environment you provide our students.  It is wonderful to see them develop and grow as young people.
