บริติช เคานซิล ร่วมกับมหาวิทยาลัยบอร์นมัธประเทศอังกฤษ จัดงาน ‘Bournemouth University’s Week’พบอาจารย์ผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิจากอังกฤษ แลกเปลี่ยนทรรศนะด้านการศึกษาระหว่างสองประเทศ
บริติช เคานซิล ประเทศไทยเตรียมต้อนรับ ศาสตราจารย์ จอห์น วินนีย์ อธิการบดี พร้อมด้วยคณาจารย์จากมหาวิทยาลัยบอร์นมัธ(Bournemouth University) มหาวิทยาลัยที่เพิ่งได้รับรางวัลจากสมเด็จพระราชินีอลิซาเบธในด้านการเรียนการสอน สาขาการผลิตภาพยนตร์เอนิเมชั่นในสหราชอาณาจักร มาร่วมพูดคุยในหัวข้อ “คุณค่าของการศึกษาต่อ ณ สหราชอาณาจักร และการก้าวสู่ความเป็นนานาชาติของสถาบันการศึกษาในสหราชอาณาจักร” พร้อมทั้งเยี่ยมเยียนจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย และมหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล
การมาเยือนประเทศไทยของศาสตราจารย์ จอห์น วินนีย์ อธิการบดี ในครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อแบ่งปันข้อมูลการศึกษาในระดับอุดมศึกษาของสหราชอาณาจักร และเป็นโอกาสอันดีในการหารือความร่วมมือทางวิชาการระหว่างมหาวิทยาลัยบอร์นมัธและคณาจารย์จากสถาบันการศึกษาของไทย
ภายในงานจะมีการเปิดรับใบสมัครนักเรียนที่สนใจเข้าเรียน พร้อมพบปะพูดคุยกับศิษย์เก่า อาจารย์ เพื่อแลกเปลี่ยนประสบการณ์ ความแตกต่างด้านวัฒนธรรม และให้คำปรึกษาเกี่ยวกับการเตรียมตัวไปเรียนต่อ ณ สหราชอาณาจักร งานจะจัดขึ้นตั้งแต่วันที่ 29 -31 พฤษภาคมนี้ ที่ The Campus โรงแรมแกรนด์ไฮแอต เอราวัณ และโรงแรมโนโวเทล สยาม ฯ

Professor John Vinney
Vice-Chancellor
Professor John Vinney became Vice-Chancellor of BU in August 2010. A Professor in Computational Mechanics, he was previously Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Pro Vice-Chancellor at the University. Professor Vinney is assisted by other senior colleagues in the leadership and management of BU.
John Vinney joined BU in October 2006 as a Professor in Computational Mechanics and Dean of the School of Design, Engineering & Computing.
He took on the role of Pro Vice-Chancellor (PVC) (Resources) from May 2008, PVC (Education and Professional Practice) from April 2009 and Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) from April 2010.
An engineering graduate with a First Class degree in Mechanical Engineering, John has gained several years’ experience in industry, ranging from shipbuilding to satellite design.
He is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and a member of the Institution’s Academic Standards Panel.
Starting his HE career at Coventry University as a lecturer in 1991, John moved to the University of the West of England (UWE) in 1992, where his roles included:
• Dean of the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences from 2005 to 2006
• Associate Dean with specific responsibility for quality, academic operations and resources from 2003 to 2005
• Head of School of Mechanical, Manufacturing and Aerospace Engineering from 2001 to 2003
• Head of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering from 1997 to 2001
• Director of the Bristol Aerospace Consortium from 2003 to 2006.
In 2001 he completed a Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and has subsequently led a number of transformational projects across a diverse range of academic areas.
He has a sound track record in research, focusing on computational mechanics and enterprise activity, with a specific focus on professional practice for the aerospace sector.
He has published his work widely, including the Journal of Strain, the Journal of Renewable Energy and the International Journal of Prosthetics and Orthotics.
